To achieve this Duvekot is working with the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Alliance and Nova Southeastern University. This is a business incubator program and really a testing ground of sorts because if it is successful it will be expanded to other parts of Brazil and other countries too. The 50 companies were selected from 2,409 applicants and are all from the city of Santa Catarina. All of the companies are in one of these four industries: software, high tech manufacturing, fashion and food. All of these industries are “on Florida’s targeted list and eligible for Florida help.” This first phase of 50 businesses will create 60 jobs and raise at least $9 million dollars over a 5 year span. There is also the possibility of one day helping Florida companies do the same thing in Brazil.
This is really what Florida does well, lure companies from other states and countries with our low taxes and weather which builds wealth here. I bet this program will be successful and lead to even more companies coming to Florida from many places which will, in turn, positively affect the commercial real estate market. Before long we might just be number 2 in population! Is that a good thing? As always thanks for reading and have a great day.
